Remember that song? Dem bones...

The foot bone is connected to the ankle bone...

The anklebone's connected to the leg bone...

The leg bone 's connected to the knee bone...thigh bone..hip bone...back bone..

and on up the kinetic chain.

You know how you can have one nagging pain (like knee pain) and then your hip on the other side starts hurting? Or your low back? Or your other knee?

That could be caused by favoring your injury and stressing the other parts of the kinetic chain. It's important to find those imbalances and correct them through exercises that address the big picture.

The point is... that taking care of your knees is not JUST about your knee. Its the whole kinetic chain. If you want to make your knees stronger, consider that you need to make each part of the chain strong: foot - ankle- leg (lower leg & upper leg)- hips - core part of the chain to make your knees stronger.

FOR 5 WEEKS: Each week I'll post a new exercise to address each of the areas you want to strengthen. Just stay tuned to this blog!

Watch your email box each week for your Healthy Knees Newsletter with the newest move to help your knees feel better and legs get stronger - so that you can move with less pain and more freedom.
